Activity Time: 30+ minutes
Autumn in Queensland is the perfect season for a leisurely picnic by the picturesque Wappa Dam. Jack Harrison Park, located on the banks of the dam, is a stunning spot for a relaxing afternoon. With plenty of open green space, picnic tables, a playground, and spacious parking lots, it is an ideal spot to bask in the warm autumn sun.
After a satisfying picnic, take a quick bush walk down the falls track to reach the famous Wappa Falls, where you can take a refreshing dip in the cool waters. However, please exercise caution while swimming, as the currents at the falls can be unpredictable, and the rocks can be slippery. An alternative to walking from the park is to park at the Wappa Falls car park, which is a short distance from the falls. However, please note that parking spaces are limited and can fill up quickly during peak times. Do be wary of dangerous conditions especially after rain when the falls are flowing heavily, as there have been several reported incidents, as these sorts of currents are unsafe for swimming.
It is essential to leave the park clean and tidy for others to enjoy. Please use the designated bins in Jack Harrison Park to dispose of your rubbish properly, or if the bins are full, take your rubbish home with you.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy a perfect autumn day with a lovely picnic by Wappa am and a refreshing swim in the nearby Wappa Falls.
